เพื่อดูแลช้างก่อนทำการแสดงจริงและได้จัดต่อเนื่องเป็นประจำทุกปีจนถึง
ปัจจุบัน นับเป็นเทศกาลงานประเพณี
เอกลักษณ์ที่โดดเด่นดึงดูดนักท่องเที่ยวให้มาเที่ยวจังหวัดสุรินทร์
นอกจากการต้อนรับและเลี้ยงอาหารช้างแล้ว
ในงานยังมีการแสดงศิลปวัฒนธรรมพื้นบ้านอีกด้วย
